Nurses

The nursing team aims to provide a high standard of holistic nursing care as part of a multidisciplinary team to all members of the community we serve. The nursing team will do this using evidence based practice and are committed to continuing professional development. The team will approach patients’ needs with respect and dignity in a friendly, compassionate and professional manner and act as the patients advocate.

Our service to patients will aim to offer high quality nursing care with education and support to promote self-care and enable each individual to make informed choices in a safe environment.

Practice Nurses are fully trained in a wide range of skills including immunisations, health promotion, contraception and management of long-term conditions e.g. advice on diet and lifestyle choices, coronary heart disease, hypertension, asthma, diabetes, smoking cessation and obesity. Practice Nurses can extend their skills at Diploma Level and see many patients who previously would have seen the Doctor.

The Nursing Team run various Nurse-led clinics for diabetes, asthma, coronary heart disease and COPD as well as providing general nursing services, dressings, removal of sutures and blood tests.

Queen’s Nurse (QN)

We are delighted to announce that Nurse Vicky Watson has been awarded the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse (QN) by community nursing charity The Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI). The title indicates a commitment to high standards of patient care, learning and leadership. Queen’s Nurses serve as leaders and role models in community nursing, delivering high quality health care across the country. The application and assessment process to become a Queen’s Nurse is rigorous and requires clear commitment to improving care for patients, their families and carers.
